Philadelphia Grommoff - AYCE Sushi!
3/23/2024
5:00 PM - 7:00 PM
Philadelphia
Pennsylvania ![]() Welcome to the event page for our next Philadelphia Grommoff, to be held at: Akinomnom Sushi - 1210 Walnut Street - Philadelphia, PA 19107
Coming off of our insanely decadent Bougie Edition Grommoff in January, this one will appeal to the more cost-conscious among us, as promised! Akinomnom is a welcoming, intimate restaurant that offers AYCE (all-you-can-eat) Sushi, and once again was selected based on your suggestions. Except for some bar patrons, we expect to have the whole place to ourselves. The seating consists of comfortable chairs and pretty large booths, so the largest among us should have no trouble being accommodated. THIS EVENT WILL ALMOST CERTAINLY FILL UP, so reserve as soon as you can.
***** HOW DO I RSVP??? Reserving your spot is easy and consists of 3 steps: FIRST, mark yourself as attending on this event page. SECOND, choose either the AYCE Sushi option at $47 or the AYCE Sushi AND Sashimi option at $57. THIRD, send a message on here, our private Discord, or however you usually contact Titanicgains, and make your payment (Venmo preferred, also have PayPal, Zelle, and probably another option or 2 I'm forgetting).
FAQs: ~ Why are these prices higher than on the website? These prices INCLUDE the meal itself, AND unlimited fountain fountain beverages, AND tax, AND gratuity! If you don't order any extras, you will not have to deal with bill splitting, extra charges, etc. Just come, enjoy some flabby, fat fellowship completely stress-free (as I think and hope your experience at Fogo was!). ~ What if I have a food allergy or other dietary restriction that prevents me from eating sushi? Glad you asked! For those who absolutely do not like sushi, have a shellfish allergy, etc., please take a look at the menu and coordinate with the organizer, Titanicgains, for an alternate option. If the menu just isn't your thing, consider joining us after the Grommoff, as many will gather at The Bike Stop bar afterward, as usual. ~ What if I want to consume alcohol? This restaurant has a liquor license and you can order cocktails, or other alcoholic beverages as long as you are of age. You will be issued a separate check for any alcohol you order. Pro-tip: alcohol fills you up; consider making full use of the AYCE and waiting until the afterparty to get your drink on. ~ What if I want other extras like an entree, dessert, etc.? Like the alcohol question, feel free to inquire with your server about any extras and that you need a separate check for those items. ~ What if I RSVP and pay, but can't make it on the day of the event? For this reservation, your payment will be refunded as long as you give the organizer 3 days of notice by 5pm on Wednesday, March 20th. If you cancel after that or just don't show up to the event, you will still be issued a refund after the event IF the restaurant doesn't charge for the empty seat. If they do charge, you will not be issued a refund. ~ I'm under 21. May I attend? This Grommoff is open to members 18 and over; however, you may not purchase alcohol unless you are of legal age to do so, and risk being banned from future Grommoffs if you bring - or are given - alcohol to consume. ~ I'm under 21 and attending the Grommoff. May I come to the afterparty? Many will typically gather at the Bike Stop Bar after the Grommoff, and this portion of the evening is NOT part of the Grommoff and is subject to the policies of the Bike Stop Bar, which prohibits entry of those who have not reached the legal drinking age of 21. ~ Lots of people have signed up but I don't see much activity on the event page. What gives? Grommoffs only appear on the web version of Grommr and not on the app, so most of us keep up-to-speed by using our secret Philly Grommoff Discord server! Let us know by sending a message to Titanicgains or dropping a comment below if you'd like an invitation to the server.

Click "MARK AS ATTENDING" above if you intend to come to the Grommoff (dinner) BUT NOTE: you MUST also contact the organizer and pre-pay based on the package you'd like to purchase. If you don't do this, you may risk not being admitted to the event because it is expected to sell out.
Click "FOLLOW" above if you are interested but unsure about attending, simply just want to follow the event, or you are only going to meet us AFTER dinner (note that anything after dinner is not organized by Grommr or its vetted organizers).
Join the Discord server by DM'ing me (Titanicgains) or commenting below!

IN CASE OF RAIN ONLY: If there is rain, the event WILL PROCEED. IN CASE OF SNOW: While unlikely, it is possible that we may get a late-season snow storm. If the restaurant it open, we WILL PROCEED. If the restaurant is closed, we will not proceed and refunds will be issued.

As always, please feel free to reach out with ideas for future events! I am not an event planner by profession nor am I a Grommr employee, so I can always use suggestions and help with logistics :)

*GrommOffs are independently organized by members who've been vetted and approved as organizers, and who abide by a set of GrommOff Ground Rules which can be read in the Support link above. If you believe that these rules were not followed, please contact the GrommOff account here: https://grokio.atlassian.net/servicedesk/customer/portal/4/topic/3ab9d4b8-c5d9-4822-a936-64a17a41150f/article/181731339 *
Please note well the following rules for Grommoffs:
1. Respect others’ personal space
Gatherings can be exciting--and it can be easy to feel comfortable with people you’ve just met. But make sure you always ask before encroaching on someone’s personal space if you don’t know them and stop if someone asks you to stop. Don’t make assumptions and ask for consent and you’ll be fine.
2. No room for racism, misogyny, ableism, homophobia or transphobia
We hope this rule goes without saying, but there is absolutely no room for racist, misogynistic, homophobic or transphobic views at any Grokio Community Gathering. Period.
3. Respect the discretion of the group in public
Oftentimes, gatherings are held in public places (restaurants, parks, beaches, bowling alleys, etc.) and there will be other people nearby. Be aware that loud voices travel—if you’re talking about sensitive or potentially embarrassing topics, use your inside voice. Similarly, a public place is not appropriate for intimacy or sexualized touching. Even if the other person is comfortable with it, respect that you’re with a group in a public place and hold off until you have more privacy.
4. Illegal drug/alcohol use is not allowed
The use of drugs that are illegal in the local jurisdiction before or during a Grokio Community Gathering is strictly forbidden, as is the consumption of alcohol by those under the legal age in the local jurisdiction.
5. Guests from outside the community are only allowed with prior approval
We know that attending a GrommOff, Feabie Meet or Ferzu Event for the first time can be scary, but bringing along a friend from outside the community for support can make others feel uncomfortable and force them to edit themselves the way they do in the real world (the goal of our gatherings is to let everyone stop editing!) If you absolutely must bring a friend from outside the community and you are confident they will know how to behave appropriately, you must clear it with the organizer BEFORE the event. Any portion of a gathering occurring in a bar or pub is excepted from this rule. |
