DC GrommOff: Bears at Banneker June 2023

Hey DC people!

We are going to try and get out of the heat and into the water. Join us on Sunday June 18 from 12-4 PM at the Banneker Swimming Pool in Shaw near Howard University. This event coincides with the Bears at Banneker event of the same name, which means hopefully we won't be the only big boys at the pool. If you want to make sure you get seats, it might be worth showing up a little earlier and poaching chairs as necessary. Following the pool, some of us will likely end up going to an all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ place before maybe going to the Beer Bust at Uproar.

We recommend grabbing a quick breakfast or lunch before coming to the pool. The pool only really allows snack foods and resealable drink containers, but we have seen folks with pop before, as long as the trash isn't left behind.

The pool is free for all DC residents but it will be $7 for all outside visitors. Lastly, we just want to reiterate that since this is a public pool, we will follow the pool's rules including no alcohol, no running, etc. There will be a lot of bears present but also on the opposite end of the 50 yard pool are usually children and families, so please be discreet about any PDA or belly rubs. We don’t want to be kicked out. You can do that stuff at Uproar if you really want to.
